The Cobra Pose ~ Bhujangasana
I have to say this is one of my favourite yoga poses because not only is it easy, but it's so effective! It is definitely one of the easiest ways to strengthen your spine, stretch the chest, shoulders, abdomen, firm the buttocks and relieve stress. So let me tell you more about this Sun-Salutation Pose.
The Meaning Behind Its Name:
Unlike may other yoga poses, Bhujangasana has a very simple explanation behind its name. The second half of the name 'asana' is very common in yoga names as it means 'posture'. The first half of the name is why it is translated to the Cobra Position, as 'Bhujang' means 'snake' or 'serpent'. Together, it becomes Bhujangasana, translated to Cobra Pose.
